volunteer information
The Crozet Cares Closet (CCC) is run entirely by volunteers.
If not for the support from our volunteers, there would likely not be a CCC.

What do Volunteers do?
There are many opportunities for our volunteers. We have specific days where we need volunteers to sign up for the day, time slot and specific job. For example:
Restocking Day-usually the last Monday of the month. Volunteers unpack, sort, take inventory and shelve donated products. Note: We have added a second restocking day (as needed) on the Friday morning before the Saturday Distribution Day.
Distribution Day-the 1st Saturday of the month. Volunteers sign-up for specific jobs:
*Front Desk- manages paper work on distribution day (shopping card, guest list, etc.)
*Greeter - welcomes patrons, manages sign-in, coordinates waiting area flow
*Shopper guide - greets and introduces self to patrons, learns their product needs, selects and bags products. We also have special events for which we need volunteers, i.e. “Cram the Van”, Crozet Health Fair.
There is also a great need for volunteers to be willing to be the support “behind the scenes”. The CCC needs volunteers for administrative tasks, marketing and social media, data management, community relations and picking up donations from donation drop-off sites. Many of our volunteers work in multiple capacities.

How do I volunteer?
We utilize the Sign-Up Genius for our various events: Restocking Day, Distribution Day and other special events. For more information email:
info@crozetcarescloset.org .Are children allowed to volunteer?
At the CCC, we love having youth involved alongside their families.
Restocking Days provide a great opportunity for children to help out; parent supervision is expected for children 15 and under.
Distribution Day participation is handled on a case-by-case basis. We ask that parents volunteer alongside their younger teens, while older teens (generally age 16 and up) may volunteer independently, depending on their maturity and comfort level.
If you have specific questions about your child volunteering or would like help discerning the best fit, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us, we’re happy to help.
