Who we are

The Crozet Cares Closet grew out of a shared concern among local faith communities who came together to listen to the needs of our neighbors. On August 30, 2022, representatives from ten Crozet churches formed the Crozet Region Interfaith Outreach Council to better understand where families and individuals in our community were struggling.

Through these conversations, it became clear that many people have difficulty affording basic personal care and household cleaning items. While food pantries in Crozet help provide meals, most do not offer non food essentials such as hygiene products, paper goods, and cleaning supplies. These everyday items are not covered by government assistance, leaving some neighbors to choose between paying for necessities or going without.

In response, the Crozet Cares Closet was created to help meet this need with care and compassion. Since opening on July 1, 2023, the Closet has provided personal hygiene and household cleaning products to neighbors in need, made possible through the generosity of the community and a shared commitment to dignity and care for one another.

The Crozet Cares Closet is a joint ministry of the Crozet Region Interfaith Outreach Council.
